June 16th letter

Dear Family,
I got your letter's on the 14th so it takes a long time for them to get here. Anyways happy Father's Day buddy I love you so much I hope you get a great breakfast, I'm sure I'll be eating beans and eggs like usual. So as far as this past week went I had to say good bye to my latino roomates because they leave after 3 weeks, but the point is I grew to love them even though I didn't really understand everything they said. When they left between my companion and I and the 4 latino roomates I think I cried more then than when I said bye to the family because I know I'll never see them again. They truely are the sweetest people. I hope everyone had a good time at the beach house I really wanted to be there with the family. Oh yea on the 15th we got to go to the market in Central Park it was crazy. There were stands crammed together everywhere. I want to send you more pictures but I'm afraid to send the memory card home and have it get lost, and they don't give us enough time to send pictures on the computer. I have been taking lots of pictures so I hope you like them when I do send them. I love you tons everyone, I miss you to. I'll be in the field in 3 weeks. Tell my babies I said hi, oh and I sent Trevor a letter with my testimony and some really deep conversation in it about life so if he wants to hear more about the church and wants to go to church I told him you would be there for him.

Letter home June 7, 2010

Dear family,
And it came to pass that in the first week in the land of Guatemala, I dwelt amongst the Latino people. Peace, peace be unto you for i hath survived the great and dreadful day of the volcano. For behold I thrusteth in my shovel and cleaned the temple grounds. But behold my labors caused me to catch the flu. But verily verily I say unto you my soul hath been redeemed from the gall of bitterness and bonds of diarrhea.

Translation:

My first week in the MTC or CCM we got our Latino roommates the day after we arrived, none of them speak english so it's hard to understand each other but we get along great. I survived the volcano that erupted in Antigua, which the end result was a lot of service hours. There was a ton of ash everywhere. Just a little insight on what I mean, there was 1,000 dump truck loads of ash hauled off the airport runway. I got sick from working in the rain and I got the flu. I'm better now though.
Please write back, let me know how things are going at home. I love all of you (and) the church is true.
Love, Elder Johnson
P.S. My english is already getting messed up.
Well I wrote the letter on the front before p-day so I have more to write now. Right after I got rid of the flu I caught a cold, and I'm still sick with it. I went to the temple for the first time today..... it was all en espanol I was like a deer in the headlights. Well that's all.
Love Elder Johnson

Ahh i wish you would have sent that box i need a piece of home down here but its ok. Well this week we went to central park and each of us was pared up with a latino companion and were told to get to work. So thats exactly what my companion and i did, i wasnt able to say much other than opening a conversation sharing a scritupre here and there and bearing my testimony, and it turned out great. We got 20 refferals, gave out 4 books of mormons and gave out aton of panflits over the 4 hour period we were there It was the coolest experience i've had down here so far. Anyways i hope your having a great time at the beach house, i really wish i was there. You can tell the cousins and aunts and uncles all the stories i have if you would like.... im sure you already have. But anyways im going to the temple again today..... and its in all spanish again..... i like it though. Well i love you tons, have a great time at the beach and tell everyone i say Hi!!
