Battle wound

1-31-2011
OK to start off zone leader really isn't anything hard, we take the data from other area's and reprot them to the office, we also give talks in our zone meetings, we also do the baptismal interviews for all the other area's in our zone. So this week was pretty interesting.....we had to drop 2 investigators that had baptismal dates because they don't wanna drop drinking and smoking, but we got 2 new investigators to church this and one of them is Oscar and he has a baptismal date for my birthday so we'll see how it goes, he's really positive and really smart. We also have to move houses so that's going to happen today hopefully. Story for the week: its not much but kinda funny, so we were chopping wood for one of our investigators and I was about halfway through this big pile of wood I was cutting and one of the pieces backfired on me and nailed me in the face and put a gash right next to my eye, so I got a pretty cool battle scar now. Other than that not a whole ton has happened this week. My Spanish is improving a ton, we've been really focusing on working with members and getting reference and things like that and this past week I kinda sat back and realized wow I speak Spanish..... I thought that was pretty funny. Well Love you everybody Love Elder Johnson

Being Trained

So this week I got an emergency change to Quetzaltenango or Xela to be trained as a zone leader, my new companions name is Elder Marshall and he's from Phoenix Arizona and he has about 16 months in the mission, but the funny thing is when I showed up I found out that Elder Estrada my companion that I thought got sent home is with the other zone leader Elder Douglas and he is being trained too can you believe it! And on top of that we all live together haha, so everything worked out just fine and Elder Estrada or Dallin will be able to recieve the things you sent him and we are still really good friends. Anyways my new area is called Garibaldi and I live within a 10 min walk to the temple here! I wake up everyday and can see the temple its awesome. Oh and another thing this week all the zone leaders and future zone leaders (which is me) are going on a cam pout with our mission president so I'm really excited. Tell everyone I love them and let Jim and Lori know I got their package, Love You Family, Love Elder Johnson
P.S. Juanito from Salcaja was baptized this past Saturday!!!! He finally stopped drinking coffee, oh and we also put 3 other baptismal date this week and all three are on my birthday.
Oh I almost forgot that this week we had Bishop Burton the Presiding Bishop over the church come and talk to all the missionaries, it was cool Well that's all for this week, Love Elder Johnson

Pay for their consequences

ok so other than the pictures i sent absolutely nothing happened this week and i´ll explain why..... So number one my companion and 4 other elders were taken out of our zone because they were all told they were getting sent home so i dont know if they´re still in the mission or there actually here, and i dont know what happened i heard half of them watched sherk 4 and the other half had music....... Anyways i have been stuck at the zone leaders house all week and i still dont have a companion so hopefully i get one soon because im tired of going on divisions with other elders, i did get to help out with a baptism though this week which was cool. Oh i was also able to go to xapón with elder Larson from st. george this week because his comp was also sent home supposedly, and let me say it was quite the adventure. So let me explain xapón to everybody there church is a portable and the class rooms and kitchen are made of mud huts, they also dont have electricity out there and they barely have water. I was only out there for a little while before the Presidents assistants brought elder larsons new comp out to him and took me back to the zone leaders house. I also got to go on divisions with another elder in santa ana because he doesnt have his com either and thats were we baptized this weekend. Other than that im doing good and just kinda getting by right now. As far as my cooking conditions go no i dont have a microwave but i do have a stove and oven. Thanks for all the support and emails, its good to here form all of you. oh P.S. i do get grandpa´s letters but only at conferences, and i do have all of them still. Love you guys Elder Johnson

Miracles do happen

Jan. 10, 2011
hey everybody not much to write about from this week but i´ll do my best to send you something.... This week we worked with a couple members, the first member we worked with we went to a couple inactive families and tried to get them to come back to church, after that we were walking home and the guy we were with his name is william told us that there was this member family we could visit. he also told us that the wife of one of the kids isnt a member but that the missionaries had tried talking with her for the past 3 years and she never has excepted us, all i told brother william was every missionary is different..... so we went to the house and started talking to her and i ended up teaching her the whole time and at the very end we asked if shed like us to come back and she didnt say anything for about 2 min, which was kind of wierd but nobody said anything and then out of nowhere she says yea i want to learn more. WOW you should have seen the look on everybodys faces it was priceless. Anyways she ended up coming to church for the first time this past sunday and shes really positive. other than that we visited 2 other families with another member but i have no idea what they were saying because the whole lesson was in quiche.....its terrible because i felt like i started my mission all over again. Im doing good and its good to here from you. Love Elder Johnson
