Thanksgiving dinner

Nov 29, 2010

Ok so same old same old for this as far as missionary work goes. Thanksgiving dinner was good, we ate chicken with mashed potatoes, and stuffing and vegetables and then we had pie.Of course none of it was even half as good as thanksgiving dinner in the states but it was the best meal i´ve eaten in guatemala. Well what else happened this week..... we got 4 investigators to church and were gonna ask one of them to be baptized this saturday, so we´ll see how it goes with him. well nothings really going on down here,im sorry this letter is so short, i just dont have anything to write. One other thing we had the primary program in church this sunday, and it was so funny, it was pretty much the same as in the states, just 10x worse because they really cant sing at all down here but the kids were so cute. I´ll send pictures later today and write you more. Love You family. Love Elder Johnson

A humble Christmas

Nov. 22,2010

Ok so this week was interesting. First off me and my comp keep getting really bored in our area so we just walk to the furtherest villages we can find and this week we came across people that speak mum, MUM is one of the many dialects thats you can find in guatemala. Well anyways we found this family that speaks this language and they hardly speak any spanish, which is really funny cause i know more than they do. Second story this one is alittle more spiritual..... We started teaching this guy whos wife and family are all members, anyways the point of this story is we closed the lesson with a song. We sang i am a child of god, with a man who is about 35 years old, it then hit me that the song we sang isnt just a primary song but for people of all ages and i really saw him as one of my brothers. third thing that happened this week was we found the city dump and there was 100´s of vultures their so i´ll send you a picture of that in a sec. Well thats about and as far as the phone call goes.... its going to be cheaper for me to call you and give you my number and then have you call me back. I cant wait to talk to you guys christmas, its gonna be awesome. Oh i also sent grandma and grandpa Davis a letter so let me know when they get that, i also sent you guys one to. I Love You Family

Still in Salcaja

Nov 15 2010
OK well not much happened this week. I didn't get changed, i'm still in Salcaja with my buddy Elderedge. Anyways Brother Esvin the baseball coach was really happy i didnt get changed because we´ve become really close and he always tells me im his only friend he has in the church right now and stuff... its really sad but at least me and my comp keep him coming. Other than that, we worked really hard this week because we had to find new investigators to teach for the month, which we did. Oh wanna hear something funny so this week we met 3 new investigators and they are all neighbors.... wanna hear their names? 1) Isaias 2) Israel 3) Moses. I was like you got to be kidding me when i heard their names. Well thats all for the week.... but we did see the devils again yesterday. one group was painted pink another was painted gold and the other was silver again. Well Love you family. Nov 8 2010

Ok so this week a few things happened...1) i got your package and thank you for the flashlights.2)We got to listen to a 70 speak to us, it was Elder Clarke. He was telling us that mission quetzaltenango is a very new mission and we only have about 10% latinos in the mission and that is out of over 200 missionaries. Our mission president is pretty upset because we need more latino´s to help us north americans out with the language. Its ok though we´ll make it all work out.3) this past sunday started a holiday called the day of the devil.......its crazy everybody gets drunk and paint themselves and dress up as devils and run through the streets lighting fireworks off, its really funny i´ll send you a picture. This holiday happens every sunday from this last sunday to december 17th. i swear i dont get latino´s sometimes.4) We got to teach the baseball team again and i played alittle, i have a cool picture of me batting. I really dont have many stories, this week went by so fast and this wednesday is changes so i dont know if i will be able to write you at 10 next week. But no we didnt have time change down here. Oh another thing it is SO!!!!!!!!! Cold down here its rediculous i wore 2 sweaters and my suit jacket sunday. I´ll write more in a sec i just wanna quick mail you. Love Elder Johnson

6 months this week

Nov 1 2010
Ok so this week was fun and it went by really fast! Its getting really hard for me to write letters because the weeks seem to go by sooo fast..... can you believe i hit 6 months in the mission this friday!!! Anyways this week we had an emergency mission conference and it really helped the mission become more united. I´ll explain, ever since the mission was split the mission has never been the same and there hasnt been very many baptisms. Well our mission president has been trying so hard to reunite the mission and help us get back on our feet and this emergency conference really did the trick. Everyone that has about a year on the mission were all saying that the mission is different now and they can tell there has been a change in the spirit of the mission. Well i sent you a couple pictures and it i hope you like them, one is of me and the baseball team.... im really growing close with those kids and i hope i can see them come to be members of the church, and if not then i know i planted the seed. The other is of me learning how to spin string at our investigators house with an old piece of spinning wheel machine. And one is of our zone after we played soccer last week. Other than that, this change 4 baptisms have fallen through which sucks but i know satan is working as hard as we are out here. Tell dad i got his letter last week and jennies to i just dont have alot of time to write people so sorry to everyone i dont write back. Well i think thats about it, I miss you family and were almost to christmas!!!! i get to call you soon. I love you family LOVE ELDER JOHNSON
